Privacy Policy — StoryLoom
Effective date: June 27, 2026 · Last updated: June 27, 2026
Summary: StoryLoom collects no personal data. All app data — projects, characters, relationship maps, timelines, notes, and settings — is stored only on your device via SwiftData and never leaves the device. The developer runs no backend server, and there is no analytics, tracking, or advertising SDK. The only time data leaves your device is when you explicitly choose to Export or Share it.
1. Information We Collect
The developer collects no personal data. There is no sign-up, login, or account creation, and no name, email, or phone number is requested or stored. Everything you create in the app stays on your device via SwiftData and is never sent to any developer server.
- Projects / world-building — The story material you write. Stored only on the device.
- Characters / relationship map — The characters you create and the relationship node map between them. Stored only on the device.
- Timelines / branches — The event and branching timelines you build. Stored only on the device.
- Notes, settings, language, theme — Your writing and app preferences. Likewise stored only on the device.
2. Export and Sharing
Only when you explicitly tap Export/Share, StoryLoom turns your data into a file (Markdown / JSON / .storyloom) and hands it to the iOS share sheet.
- Where the exported file goes is entirely your choice (save to the Files app, send by mail or message, share to another app, and so on).
- StoryLoom does not send this data to any developer server and does not transmit it automatically to any external destination.
- Data handling at any destination you choose in the share sheet (e.g. a third-party cloud or messaging app) is governed by that service's own privacy policy.
3. Data Transfer and Third Parties
The developer does not transfer any data externally or share it with third parties. No developer-side network calls are made with your data.
- No backend server of our own
- No analytics SDK
- No crash-reporting SDK
- No advertising or tracking identifiers (IDFA); no ATT prompt
In-app purchases are handled by Apple StoreKit / the App Store, processed by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. The developer does not receive that data.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
- All data lives only on your device, so you retain full control.
- You can edit or delete any record — projects, characters, timelines — directly within the app.
- Deleting the app removes all data stored on the device. In-app purchases can be restored through your Apple account.
5. Payments (In-App Purchases)
StoryLoom is free, with an optional one-time Lifetime Pro purchase. All payments are processed by Apple's App Store / StoreKit; the developer never sees or stores payment details such as card numbers. Payment and refund data handling follows Apple's privacy policy.
6. Children's Privacy
StoryLoom is designed to be safe for all ages (4+). It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will post the changes and their effective date on this page.
