Privacy Policy — Second Brain Vault

Summary: Second Brain Vault collects no personal data. Everything you save — notes, photos, PDFs, voice memos, and web links — together with the AI-generated titles, summaries, categories, tags, search embeddings, and your settings, is stored only on your device and never uploaded. The AI runs entirely on-device. There is no account, no login, no server, and no analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs of any kind. The only time the app reaches the network is when you save a web link and it fetches that one page.

1. Information We Collect

Second Brain Vault does not collect personal information. There is no sign-up or login, and we never request or store any identifying information such as your name, email, phone number, or location. Everything you create or import stays on your device.

Saved items — the notes, photos, PDFs, voice memos, and web links you add to your vault. Stored only in the on-device database (SwiftData) and as files inside the app's own container.
AI enrichment — the titles, summaries, categories, and tags that the on-device AI generates for your items, plus the semantic-search embeddings used to power natural-language search. All generated and stored only on your device.
Settings — app configuration such as language, theme, and preferences, stored only on your device.

2. On-Device AI

Second Brain Vault uses Apple's on-device intelligence to make your vault searchable and organized:

Enrichment (auto-titles, summaries, categories, and tags) is produced by Apple's Foundation Models running on your device.
Semantic search uses Apple's NaturalLanguage contextual embeddings, also computed on your device.

No prompts, content, or any part of your items are sent to an AI server or to us. The AI processing happens entirely on your device.

3. Network Use — Saving a Web Link

The app makes exactly one kind of network request, and only when you choose to save a web link. In that case the app performs a single, user-initiated HTTPS GET request to fetch the page you pasted, so it can extract that page's readable text and title for your vault.

It contacts only the URL you provided — no other servers.
It sends no personal data and uploads nothing from your device.
It uses an ephemeral session with no cookies stored.

This is the only outbound network activity in the entire app. Aside from this, and any iCloud sync you explicitly enable (see Section 7), the app makes no network connections.

4. Permissions

All permissions are optional, used only for the feature you invoke, and processed entirely on your device. You can decline any of them, and change them anytime in iOS Settings.

Camera — to photograph something you want to save.
Photo Library — to import photos and read text from them using on-device OCR (Vision).
Microphone — to record voice memos.
Speech Recognition — to transcribe voice memos. Transcription is forced to run on-device and is never sent to a server.

Second Brain Vault does not use location, Health (HealthKit), or contacts.

5. Data Transmission & Third-Party Sharing

Second Brain Vault does not transmit your data externally or share it with third parties.

No backend server — the app has no account system and no place to upload your data to.
No analytics tools.
No crash-reporting SDKs.
No advertising or tracking identifiers (IDFA).

6. Payments (In-App Purchase)

Second Brain Vault is free for up to 100 saved items. You can optionally upgrade to Pro (₩6,600 per year, auto-renewable) or a Lifetime unlock (₩29,000, one-time). All payments are processed by Apple via the App Store / StoreKit; the app never sees or stores payment details such as card numbers. Payments, refunds, and purchase restoration are handled under Apple's privacy policy through your Apple account.

7. Optional iCloud Backup & Sync

Backup and sync across your devices is opt-in and available with Pro. If you enable it, your vault is synced through your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit) under Apple's privacy terms. The data stays within your personal Apple account; the developer has no access to it and operates no server in this path. If you leave this feature off, nothing is synced and your data remains solely on the device.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all data lives only on your device, you have full control over it.
You can edit or delete any saved item directly in the app.
Deleting the app removes all on-device data (SwiftData and files in the app container) with it. If you used iCloud sync, you can manage or remove that copy from iCloud in iOS Settings.
Your in-app purchase entitlement can be restored through your Apple account.

9. Accounts & Login

Second Brain Vault requires no account creation or login. It does not request any identifier such as email, phone number, or social sign-in.

10. Children's Privacy

Second Brain Vault is designed to be safe for all ages (4+). It collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There is no user-to-user communication and no advertising.

11. Your Rights

Since all data resides on your device, your rights to access, correct, and delete it are exercised directly through the in-app interface and iOS system controls. For questions about rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable laws, please use the contact below.

12. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will post the changes and their effective date on this page.
