Privacy Policy — Ember

1. Information We Collect

Ember does not collect any personal data. There is no sign-up and no login, and the app neither requests nor stores identifying information such as your name, email, phone number, or location. Everything you create in the app stays on your device.

• Focus sessions — your task title, optional micro-steps, session length, the soundscape you chose, focused time, an optional energy reflection, and optional notes. All saved only in the app's on-device storage (its local database).
• Your ember progress — accumulated "warmth", levels, and streaks, computed and stored only on your device.
• App settings — sounds, haptics, default session length, notification preferences, theme, and language, likewise stored only on your device.

2. Data Transmission & Third-Party Sharing

Ember does not transmit any data off your device or share anything with third parties.

• No backend server — the app makes no network calls for your content.
• No account or login.
• No analytics tools.
• No crash-reporting SDKs.
• No advertising or tracking identifiers (no IDFA usage). No App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track.

All soundscapes and sound effects are generated ahead of time and bundled inside the app, so audio plays fully offline with no streaming.

3. Permissions (All Optional & On-Device)

Each permission below is optional and only requested when you use the related feature. In every case, data stays on your device.

• Notifications — used only for an optional gentle session-end nudge and an optional daily "time to focus" reminder, scheduled on-device with no server involved. Ember works fully without them.

Ember does not request access to your camera, photos, microphone, location, contacts, health, or calendar.

4. Export & Backup

The only time data leaves the app is when you explicitly export it. You can export your sessions as a JSON file and choose where to save or share it via the iOS share sheet. You control this entirely.

5. Payments (In-App Purchase)

Ember is free, with an optional one-time lifetime unlock (Ember Pro, non-consumable). All payments are handled by Apple through the App Store / StoreKit. Ember never sees or stores your payment details such as card numbers. Purchase restoration is performed through your Apple account.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

• Because all data lives only on your device, you retain full control at all times.
• You can delete individual sessions, or reset all data, directly inside the app (Settings → Data).
• Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data with it. No server copy exists. Your in-app purchase entitlement can be restored through your Apple account.

7. Accounts & Login

Ember requires no account, no login, and no identifiers such as email, phone number, or social sign-in.

8. Health Disclaimer

Ember is a focus, productivity, and wellbeing tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent ADHD or any condition. It is not a substitute for professional advice.

9. Children's Privacy

Ember is designed to be safe for general audiences. Because it collects no data at all, no personal information is gathered from anyone, including children.

10. Your Rights

Because all data stays on your device, you can exercise access, correction, and deletion rights directly through the in-app UI and iOS system settings. For GDPR / CCPA / other regulatory questions, contact us using the address below.

11. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version and a new effective date will be posted on this page.
