Privacy Policy — DeepRead

Summary: DeepRead collects no data and requests no network access. Your documents, highlights, and AI-generated notes are stored only in the app's on-device storage and processed only by Apple's on-device Apple Intelligence models. Nothing you import or write ever leaves your device.

1. Information We Collect

DeepRead does not collect any personal data. There is no sign-up and no login, and the app neither requests nor stores identifying information such as your name, email, phone number, or location.

Documents you import — PDF/TXT/RTF files you choose via the Files app are copied into the app's private on-device storage for reading, highlighting, and on-device AI processing.
Highlights & notes — highlights you make and any AI-generated summaries, translations, Q&A answers, or highlight digests, stored only in the app's local database.
App settings — language, appearance, and usage counters (for the free-tier limit), stored only on your device.

2. On-Device AI & No Network Access

DeepRead does not transmit any data off your device. Summarization, translation, and question-answering run entirely on-device using Apple's Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels) and Natural Language frameworks. The app requests no network entitlement and makes no calls to any AI provider, cloud service, or analytics endpoint — your documents are never uploaded anywhere, including to Apple.

No backend server, no cloud AI, no third-party APIs.
No analytics or tracking SDKs.
No crash-reporting SDKs that transmit data off-device.
No advertising or tracking identifiers (no IDFA usage, no App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track).

The only network traffic this app can ever generate is Apple's own App Store / StoreKit purchase flow (see §4), which DeepRead does not control or observe.

3. Permissions

DeepRead uses the system Files picker to import documents — this is a standard iOS document picker, not a privacy-sensitive permission. DeepRead does not request access to your camera, photos, microphone, location, contacts, health, or calendar.

4. Payments (In-App Purchase)

DeepRead is free, with an optional one-time lifetime unlock (DeepRead Pro, non-consumable). All payments are handled by Apple through the App Store / StoreKit. DeepRead never sees or stores your payment details such as card numbers. Purchase restoration is performed through your Apple account.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Because all data lives only on your device, you retain full control at all times.
You can delete individual documents, or reset all data, directly inside the app (Settings → Storage).
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data with it. No server copy exists. Your in-app purchase entitlement can be restored through your Apple account.

6. Accuracy Disclaimer

AI-generated summaries, translations, and answers are produced by an on-device language model and may be incomplete or inaccurate. DeepRead is a reading aid, not a substitute for careful review of the original document, and is not legal, financial, medical, or professional advice. Always verify important details (e.g. contractual terms) against the source document.

7. Accounts & Login

DeepRead requires no account, no login, and no identifiers such as email, phone number, or social sign-in.

8. Children's Privacy

DeepRead is designed to be safe for general audiences. Because it collects no data at all, no personal information is gathered from anyone, including children.

9. Your Rights

Because all data stays on your device, you can exercise access, correction, and deletion rights directly through the in-app UI and iOS system settings. For GDPR / CCPA / other regulatory questions, contact us using the address below.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version and a new effective date will be posted on this page.
